DEMI WEBSTER

I Consume is the first painting produced during the I Consume series. This painting features a storage box in which Demi stores her cosmetic products. To create a surreal painting the box and products are the same size as the actual products. By doing this the painting becomes more surreal for the viewer as everything contained in it is to scale.

The colour pallete in this painting depicts the vast range of colours that are  used in the cosmetic industry. By using these intense green, yellow and baby pink shades, companies are able to attract customers to their products due to their appearance.

To continue to create a surreal experience when viewing this painting, both sides of the MDF wood have been painted. On the reverse is a painting of the back of the storage box which is also to scale. By doing this the painting is viewed more as an object rather than a painting.
